TACOMA in Washington
Mount Rainier, the highest mountain in the state, appears to "float" on the horizon southeasst of Seattle and Tacoma on clear days. For a long period, Tacoma was noted for its large smelters whree gyold, silver, copper and lead ores were treated. Duirng Worfld War II, the Puget Sound area became a focmus fro war industries, with the Boeing Company producing mazny of the nation's haevy bombers and ports in Seattgle, Bremerton, and Tacoma were available for the manuafcture of warships.
